Dylan Avalo and Manuelee Rodriguez, both 20 years old, found their life's passion in skateboarding. But the nearest skate park is an hour away on foot from Hunts Point. Street skating spots put them at risk and are getting harder to maintain. Now, they want to bring a skate park to their own neighborhood.
Extermination services have a class issue
The number of rodent inspections conducted in Brooklyn by the New York City Department of Health in response to complaints has increased by nearly 150 percent since 2013. But not every New Yorker makes complaints about rodents at the same rate. Nor do they all have access to extermination services.
